Rock Bottom.
Lacey was not centered. She was not in her happy place.
Oh no, she was just in a wooded area surrounding a group of cabins that had long since fallen past the state of disrepair. When she had first spotted the cabins her thoughts had immediately turned to Friday the 13th, but thankfully this seemed like less of a summer camp and merely more of a rundown forest retreat. Lacey was hoping that she wasn't a Mary-Sue in a Friday the 13th movie. She was pretty sure that if she was, she'd be a goner. Not because she couldn't do anything, but because it was always the sweet innocent virgin type girl who survived.

Lacey Voorhees was not sweet. And she was certainly not innocent. In other words, she was fucked and not in a hot and kinky kind of way.

She was currently on top of a roof of a cabin, trying to get a good look around. With only the moon as her light source it was a challenge to say the least. She was hating this. She'd already come across several bodies, victims of whatever nutjob was slaughtering people here. Most were hacked up but she had found one death by bludgeoning. It ad not been a pleasant sight. If she weren't her, she'd probably have lost her lunch at some point. Thankfully she was able to control herself.

Lacey stilled instantly. Had she heard something? She didn't see anything, but that meant nothing. The woman barely breathed as she tried to listen to her surroundings. She heard a slight creak for her efforts. It was somewhere in the cabin below. It had-

Creak.

No, it was- Lacey turned her head and found herself staring at a pair worn out work boots. She swallowed and immediately rolled to the side just as an ax slammed into the spot she'd been laying. Unfortunately, she hadn't timed her roll quite right and she ended up falling off the roof and onto the damp grass below. She groaned but silently thanked god (or whoever was watching) for not being on top of a really tall building. Lacey scrambled to her feet, wincing in pain. She was bruised but not broken and so she started to run just as she heard the thud of the resident psycho's feet hitting the ground.

She didn't bother heading for any of the other cabins, knowing she could be cornered if she tried to hide again. She needed open ground. She needed a weapon. She needed-

-To scream, because an arm suddenly wrapped itself around her. Lacey struggled, only to be thrown aside like a rag doll over a rocky hill. She couldn't keep from crying out as she tumbled down the hillside.

The last thing she felt was a sharp pain as she hit bottom. And then...

Nothing.

To ask how he found her would be a complex story. But to give an explanation, a cosmic pull. A gut feeling.

He knew Lacey was in trouble...big trouble. And somehow, like a miracle, found her. But with all his powers and strength, he wasnt quick enough to get to her in time. He'd fly around the earth to turn back time to save her, but that's just rediculous.

He x-rayed her up and down to see if she had broken anything or any serious injuries. He looked around, he wanted to find the person who did this, but she needed help and fast.

Clark scooped her into his arms ever so gently and whispered in her ear, "You're safe now."

Long as she didnt wake up on the flight to the nearest hospital.

See, life in Lacey Land was a funny thing. It always seemed to know how to make things worse for the woman. In other words, she came to while in flight.

She was groggy, and god did her head hurt worse than the last hangover she'd had, but she realized something was off. Like the fact she was moving. In air. Her eyes widened and she let out a terrified shriek that woke herself up further. Of course that was when she realized just who her savior was.

Her shrieking stopped and she stared in shock.

Yes, it was another rare moment. Lacey had gone speechless.

Lacey speechless. That was never a good sign.

He breathed a sigh of relief. She was awake, which was a good sign. But he still had to get her to the hospital.

"Thank goodness. Are you okay," he asked. He knew of course she wasn't given her state, it was more of a where does it hurt kind of thing. She did fall off a rocky terrain after all.

She was staring, her mouth hanging open. She was bruised, bloodied, and she was almost positive she had a concussion. Yet all she could think of was that Superman had saved her. (She was ignoring the fact they were flying. She couldn't deal with that part again. Not yet anyway.)

"What took you so long?" The words tumbled out of her mouth before she could stop them. She groaned inwardly and rolled her eyes, only to wince. Great. Even rolling her eyes freaking hurt. "Where did you come from?"

For some reason, he couldn't help but smile. Same old Lacey.

"Sorry, earthquake in India. As for where I came from? That is a complex question. I dont know how I found you. Just one of those small miracles. I guess someone up there was keeping an eye on you."

He saw they were getting closer to the hospital. "You're safe now. That's the important thing. You'll be fixed up good as new and rolling your eyes at everyone in no time."

A miracle? Try a freaking impossibility. Right? She shifted and winced again. Her side hurt and so did her arm. She would have looked at it, but that would mean risking a look down. As it was, her eyes were on the blue wonder and him alone. It was safer on her sanity that way. Plus, it was a good view.

"Yeah.. safe." She frowned at him, unsure of that idea. After all, for all she knew this could be a huge hallucination from her fall. She could be getting hacked up right now. She shuddered at that thought. It was not a happy visual, especially since she had such a twisted and very detailed imagination. "I don't even know where I am. Hell, I don't even know how I got where I was. I was just, bam. There. Sucks to be Lacey-Land."

The frown did not go unnoticed.

"None of that matters right now. Cause you ARE safe," He shifts his body to land in front of the ER. "You're alive and I'm not letting you out of my sight anytime soon."

He would stay by her side, watched from a safe distance to let the medical people work on her. But he wasn't going to leave her side.

He lands gently on the ground. "I know it sucks, but at least you're still alive," he said taking her into the emergency room.

"Says you." She muttered under her breath, pretending that he couldn't hear her. "For all I know I'm actually being mutilated as we speak and this is just my mind's way of making me not aware of the physical trauma I'm going through."

Oh joy. The hospital. Unluckily for Superman, Lacey instinctively clung to him. "Have I ever mentioned I'm not a big fan of hospitals? Or needles? Or anything else that has to cut into me?" Of course, given the alternative (being dead or dying) wasn't something she cared for either. So she'd deal with the doctors. But not without a little bit of a fight.

He kisses her softly on the lips.

"See, would your mind make me do that to you?"

He understood her fear though. "I know you do, but you have to get checked out. I'll be here the whole time. I'm not going anywhere. I promise."

A promise from Superman is as good as gold. He didn't want to leave her side, but he knew the doctors would make sure he's out of the way while they did their work up on her. But he wouldn't be far.

Oh. Well.. that was quite a nice gesture. "You obviously have no idea what my mind would have you do to me." Her eyes widened. Crap. She'd said that out loud. Right.

"I need a doctor over here!" Lacey suddenly cried out. Yup. She'd rather go with them then be embarrassed by her own speaking before thinking ways.

She let the ER crew take her away but she made sure to give cape boy a 'look', "You. Stay. Unless you know, kitten in the tree or something."

He smiled and nodded as they took her away.

After what seemed like hours, and probably was, he wasn't keeping track, he was allowed to go check in on her. She was in recovery, bandaged up and hooked up to machines to check her vitals.

He really hated to see her like this. If he ever found the person who did this...

"Hey," he said as he walked towards her. He finds a chair and pulls it close to the bed. "Doctors give you something for the pain?"

Lacey was not a happy camper. She folded her arms across her chest and tried to glare. She hated being in a hospital.. but on the plus side.. she felt no pain right now.

"Morphine, or whatever it is, is of the good." She really wasn't sure what they gave her. But man, it was pretty sweet. Her attempt at glaring was already fading to boot! "Any kittens?" She couldn't really remember what kittens had to do with anything, but hey, it was a topic.

He shook his head. "No, no kittens."

Clark leans forward and brushes some hair out of her face.

"Wait until they bring you some jello. Then it'll really be a party."

Holy shit! She was going to get jello? "Jello? Seriously? Where?" The woman loved her jello. "What kind? Is it blue? Love blue jello."

She leaned forward and grinned at him. "You know, you're my hero now." Oh yes, she was drugged. "That means I own you. I can do whatever you want me to do." She crinkled her brow in thought. That wasn't quite right. Ah well. She shrugged it off. Close enough.

"Soon enough."

Clark was about to respond when he heard something outside.

"Did you attack the chef? Thank you for your time."

He shook his head and turned back to Lacey. "I am, am I? Just doing what was right Lacey. And all I want you is to rest and get your strength back."

Yep. Boy scout until the end. He would never take advnatage of her. especially in her current state.

She frowned at his response. That was no fun. Lacey began to pout. "So you don't want to play with me?"

Her ego was damaged. She was hurt. She was- Man, he was cute. "If you don't want to play, I think someone else should." With some more pouting she began to try and get up. She'd go find someone willing to play. Or whatever it is she wanted to do.

With one finger he pushes her down from getting up. "You're not going anywhere. And its not that I don't want to play with you Lacey."

That came out wrong.

"You know me Lac. I'm the good guy boyscout. Right now you have drugs in your system to help with your pain. If you were saying this while not on drugs or while you were drunk, I'd take it more to heart. But you know I cant take advantage of you right now. And its because I care about you so much that I can't."

He really hoped she understood.

Lacey would have kept pouting but she ended up smiling at him again. She released a dreamy sigh and reached over to pat him on the cheek. "You are so sweet."

She scooted over on the bed and then pat the newly free opening on it. His chair wasn't close enough to her liking, drugged up or not she was pretty sure that needed to change. "You. Sit. NOW." Then she wagged a finger at him. "If you don't, I'll pout. A lot."

"Well, we can't have people pouting in front of Superman. That'd be bad for buisness."

He gets up and lays next to her.

"You should feel lucky," he said with a smile. "I dont do this with every person I rescue."

She beamed at him for succumbing to her whims and settled bag down, only to lean her head on his shoulder. "That's cause they aren't as epic as me." She paused. "Deina is more epic though. Queen Epic. Totally."

She attempted to look over at him. "Thank you." Yes, the world could stop. She actually said those two simple words. Shem ay have been on painkillers, but she was serious about that. She meant it.

"Yeah, but you have the epic rack," he said under his breath.

He paused when she thanked him. Must have been hard for her to say those two words.

"You don't have to thank me. Just knowing you're okay is enough for me. But, you're welcome. Just couldn't let anything bad happen to you."

If Lacey had heard him, she would have said that's what she meant. Her fellow cafe employee had a most epic rack. One Lacey herself considered to be The Most Epic. The Queen of Epic. She may have been straight but she knew epic racks. But she didn't hear him so he was saved from that tangent. (Though with drugs it may have been highly entertaining.)

"You could have." Maybe the drugs were wearing off a bit, or maybe she was just forcing herself to be coherent. "Or.. not. But you swooped in. Saved me. Just poof. There you were. I think." She sighed. "Could have used you years ago."

"Came at the right time I think," He said looking at her with a smile. "I may not have been around at the low points of your life years ago, but hey, I'm here now. And I'm not leaving. I will always be here to help you when you need it. One save at a time."

He takes her hand. "And even if I cant find you, I'll search a thousand universes to find you if I have to."

Oh yeah, he was good. Or so Lacey constantly told herself. She was wishing he was around a lot more, and not just for a well timed save.

"You really shouldn't do that." She said and didn't try to look at him. "I'm not worth that much trouble." Really, she wasn't. "Get me a multidimensional GPS. It'll make it easier."

Did they even make those?
