Lacey goes to the Daily Planet... May God have mercy on everyone.
I eventually did get home, for the record. And weirdly the next day my I.D was altered to my new address. A bit late, no?

But that was neither here nor there anymore. You see, I was bored again. Oh sure, I could have gone to work, but no. I wanted to explore more. I wanted to.. I wanted to bother Clark. So maybe that was how I ended up at the Daily Planet. I went inside, flashed a bit of psychic paper one of the girls at work had given me for Christmas and was crammed into the elevator with the usual Daily Planet suckers.

When I was finally free of the confines of the squished workforce, I had to admit I was a bit in awe of the bullpen Clark got to work in. It was loud, busy, full of people, and did I mention loud? I walked slowly, taking it all in. It was pretty impressive. I felt a tiny twinge of jealousy for the people that got to work here. But it quickly faded when I reminded myself that I was far too lazy to ever be a reporter. Tracking down a lead? A source? Psh. No thanks. I could use that time to run people over in Saints Row 2.

I finally found Clark's desk, and don't ask how I knew, I just did. He wasn't there. My guess was that he was doing something important. Saving the world, doing a story, watching porn. Ok, so he probably wasn't watching porn. But that made for an amusing mental image. I spun around a few times in his chair, but soon that novelty wore off. With a sigh I moved from chair to desk and pulled out my Nintendo DS.

"Who are you?" The voice was stern and just a bit annoyed. I looked up from my game and found Lois Lane staring at me with a scowl. "What are you doing at Clark's desk?"

"I'm the lap dance Clark won online." I said with a faux smile. "It's amazing how some of those spam emails are actually legit. So is he here? Because I've had a long hard day and my bendyness is starting to wear thin. He's not going to notice if I'm not really into it is he? I mean, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with him, but my other appointments were such a bitch today. I didn't get nearly enough tips for the ass grabs..."

Lois stared at me in confusion, or maybe it was horror. I'm not entirely sure. So I just sat there and smiled innocently. Maybe this was a good day!

Clark tightened his tie as he walked into the bullpen. Little girl tried to cross the street without looking. Almost got ran over by a bus. Luckily he was quick and got to her in time. Gave her the 'Look both ways' speil and flew off waving goodbye to her.

He saw Lois looking at him strangely. "Clark. Can I talk to you for a minute."

"Sure Lois," Clark said adjusting his glasses.

"We're friends. And I accept you for who you are. At least who I thought you were. I thought you were a nice decent guy Clark. But getting lap dances off line? That's a bit low even for you."

"What," he laughed nervously. "What are you talking about?"

"The girl at your desk..."

He looked across the room and saw Lacey. Playing her video game with an accomplished smirk. That girl...

"She was joking Lois. That's uh...a student. At the college. Intrested in journalism."

Clark made his way to Lacey and leaned on his desk. "You really enjoy playing around with my boyscout reputation don't you," He asked with a grin.

Lacey didn't put down her DS but she was smirking at her job well done. She was freaking awesome. "Someone has to." She turned her DS off and slipped it back into her bag. She placed her hands on his desk and kicked her legs back and forth like an impatient child. "But I bet I made an impression she won't forget, am I right?"

Of course, this brought to mind what Clark may have said about her. That worried her. "So what did you say to her? Am I still your lapdance or am I your cousin from Littletown, Nowhere come to see the big city?"

He just shook his head. If she kept coming around he'd have to do a lot of damage control.

"Yeah, you definitely made an impression...and no, you're not my cousin. Said you were a student at the university intersted in journalism. So you at least have a valid excuse when you want to come and torture me."

"So," he asked as he opened up his suitcase and putting down notes from a meeting early that morning on his desk. "What brings the lovely Lacey to my neck of the woods?"

Cause he didnt mind it. He actually missed the crazy woman...her lips too.

She had to stifle a laugh. Her? A journalism student? That was hilarious. Especially since she never went to college and spent her tuition on a car. "At least I'm not a relative. It would be extremely weird to explain why people would one day find you pinned against a wall in a supply closet by me for nefarious purposes." Was she serious? It was possible. After all, this was Lacey. Of course, this was Lacey not on pain pills so that could be worrisome.

She tilted her head to the side, contemplating how to answer. She decided the truth was the best way to go. "Oh, you know, I've been forcibly reality displaced and I apparently live here now. So I guess that means I get to badger you far more often until you entertain me. Funny how that works." She stared at his computer as if trying to will it to do what she wanted now. "So what's your password so I can surf for porn on your computer and further ruin your rep?"

"Why do you think I made sure you weren't a relative," he said leaning in closer and kissing her cheek.

"Keeps getting funnier. Sorry you got displaced, but it doesn't exactly suck for me. Get to see you a lot more without having to jump worlds."

He glances between her and his computer. "Please...surf for porn on my computer at home, not here."

She perked up at his kiss and couldn't help but smile a bit. "If you're going to be sweet like that then I might need to threaten to pin you to a wall more often."

Lacey scowled at him and stuck her tongue out at him. "Of course it doesn't suck for you. You didn't go anywhere. And it's not like I'm actually going to surf for porn. Please, would I really do that? Don't answer. And hey, you didn't nearly die because of it." She was leaping from subject to subject again. "You aren't the one who hot a text only saying 'oops'. I didn't even get an apology! What a crock. I swear do you know how frustrating it is? I got lost the other day because I couldn't remember my new address. I didn't even get back till after midnight. How insane is that? I swear, someone hates me."

"Or actually do it. Have phone booths and copy rooms are often empty," he said with a grin.

He got kind of lost with her subject bouncing, but he got caught up.

"I could show you around the city. Give you a special tour. Best view in the city. And no one hates you. Sometimes things just go a little awry. And as bad and beyond cursed it might seem. There's always a hidden good in it somewhere if you really think about it. On the plus side, I can keep an eye on you now."

"And then I'll just have to tell your coworkers that I'm working on extra credit." Lacey said with a smirk. Oh yes, anything to tarnish his rep was fun in her book at the moment.

Her smirk faded and she was staring at him now as if trying to decipher what his agenda was. She made a face and stopped her fidgeting. "Hrm. Maybe. Maybe not. And since when do I need to have someone keep an eye on me? I'll have you know I've been on my own for quite a long time now. I mean I'm nearing that big birthday, with the number I don't want to think about, so I'm fully capable of taking care of myself." Damn right she was. She had her own house, a job, and all that important adult stuff that adults had to have. Then something struck her. Her eyes narrowed. "You'd better not mean what I think you mean about that tour."

At that moment, Lois was walking by, so Lacey raised her voice a smidge just for her, "I mean honestly. A tour? I'll have you know that a tour of these hills costs extra, bucko." She flashed another smile at Lois as if saying 'What can I say, I'm good at my job.'

"You're really enjoying the tarnishing of my Smallville Clark reputation arent you," he asked with a sly grin.

"Depends on what you think I meant by that tour. Cause there a lot of things I could be talking about."

Clark blushes as Lois walks by. "She's kidding," he said calling after Lois. "You are evil. Evil, evil. Yet still I like having you around. I'm a sick kryptonian."

"It's my new goal in life." Lacey reached over and mussed up his hair with another smirk. "Someone obviously needs to shake your life up a bit. It may as well be me. I mean, if I'm going to be here, I may as well put it all to good use, right?"

She let the tour topic slide for now, thinking she could deal with it later. She could of course just be jumping to conclusion on that part. If he actually meant flying, well.. it was possible there'd be one less Kryptonian in the world.

Lacey was beaming at his reaction and she couldn't help it. She was enjoying this far too much than was healthy. She should stop before it went too far, but damn it, she was having fun! She grabbed his tie and pulled him closer so she could grace him with a feather light kiss to tease him. "Yes, yes you are a sick sick man. Yet strangely enough, I happen to think it's adorable."

Holy shit, was she on happy pills? She'd probably give her family a heart attack with the way she was acting, especially since she wasn't under any artificial influence.

"Lucky me," he said fixing his hair back.

Clark saw Jimmy on the other end of the room, drinking a slurpie staring wide eyed at the scene before him. He didn't see it, cause well, he was busy kissing Lacey, but Clark guessed Jimmy did a spit-take when he saw her kiss him.

He stared deep into her beautiful eyes, "Just like I find your tough girl exterior incredibly sexy."

It was weird having those dazzling blue eyes staring at her. At least it was weird to her. She felt like she didn't have the right to be sitting there, but there she was and she had True Blue the Ever Flying Hero practically in her grasp. She cleared her throat suddenly feeling unselfconscious. "Yes, well.. I prefer to think of it as Epic Bitchitude rather than tough girl. It has a better ring to it.

At that point, she noticed Jimmy Olsen staring at the scene with a strange (possibly morbid) fascination. "What," she raised her voice to the photographer, "haven't you ever seen someone trying to get extra credit?"

This was weird for her, he could tell. It was equally weird for him too, but at the same time, kind of exhilerating. For the first time in a long time, he really didn't have to hide who he was. She knew his biggest secret...hell pretty much his only secret. He might keep that part hidden, but over all with Clark, what you see is what you got.

He smiles at the young woman. "Well, however you want to call it...I like it."

Clark shook his head. Lacey was never going to be anything but Lacey. He turned to Jimmy who stood frozen like a deer in headlights after Lacey's comment. He quickly looked both ways and ran away, bumping into Fred, one of the repoters. Sending him and the pile of papers and folders he was carrying to the ground.

"Might want to go easy on Jimmy. He's a good kid."

She felt a tiny bit bad for the bitchitude toward Jimmy. It wasn't even that harsh, but still... She sighed. "I know, I know. It just kind of slipped out. I'm sorry." The scary part of her saying that was the fact she not only sounded like she meant it, she did mean it. "Maybe I'll bake him some cookies or something."

Now she was feeling really weird. This was not good. This was bad. Very bad. How she allowed this to happen she had no idea. When she traced her steps and found out what (or who) was to blame there would be hell to pay. Or maybe not, because really, she made the mistake of looking back at Clark and she melted at those dazzling blues.

Fuck. He was so her kryptonite now. "So.. um.. what are you doing anyway? Were. I mean before I rudely descended upon your daily regime." Yeah, she was trying to make conversation and try not to show her discomfort at her own thoughts. That and if she didn't start talking she'd be tempted to do.. well.. unspeakable things. What those were.. well they were unspeakable of course!

"He does enjoy his sweets. When I came back there was cake. I think he ate almost all of it on his own. For a small guy, he sure can eat."

He smiled at her sudden change of subject.

"City Council meeting this morning. Budgetary decisions and that kind of stuff. Have to have this done and sent to the Chief by," he looks at his watch. Nuts, those quick rescues after the meeting threw him off. Now he had about 20 minutes to write and send Perry the story.

"Have to get this story done pretty fast."

He sits at his desk, and glances around making sure no one was watching and with lightning speed he organizes his notes and types out an entire story in about 40 seconds. After he's done the keyboard is a little smokey. He blows it out and turns to Lacey.

"Ahem...so. Doing anything for dinner tonight?"

"It was cake. No one can resist cake. If they do, they're evil. It's the law of nature." She said with a slight shrug.

She nodded as he told her what he'd been doing and then she just stared in mild awe when he started typing. She would however look around as if making sure no one was watching him supertype. She let out a low whistle when he was done. "Shit, where where were you when I was in high school? I could have used your elite typing skills."

Lacey frowned at his question. Not at him, but at the thought of her plans. "Dinner? Uh.. I'm doing nothing. I was debating ordering some take out from one of the restaurants I passed the other day.. but then I might not. I might be lazy and not eat anything." She had a habit of doing that too. Of course she'd make up for it later with a bag of gummi bears, but that was merely her thing. Much like rambling and random tangents. "Why do you ask?"

"I was probably at the fortress doing my lessons with my father," he said in a quiet voice.

He smiled at her rant. The girl could rant. No one could do it quite like her. "There's this rooftop restraunt. The Moonlight Lounge. Great view of the city and night sky. Would you like to have dinner with me there tonight?"

Lacey tried to do the math in her head. He was only what.. a year or two older than her? If that maybe. "You know, I think you were probably the waterboy to the Smallville High football team and don't want to admit it to me. Little do you know that I'd probably have trapped you under the bleachers for all sorts of nefarious deeds..."

The Moonlight Lounge? She blinked in surprise. She'd never heard of it and it sounded fancy. "Um..." She knew he was waiting for an answer. "Sure." There, she'd said it. "Love to. But um.. how dressy is the place?" Did she have anything nice enough for a place that sounded like that? This sure wasn't miniature golf.

"I was not the waterboy Miss Lacey."

He paused for emphasis. "I was the equipment manager. There's a difference. And you wouldn't have brought me under the bleachers back then," he said with a laugh. "Wasn't exactly good with women back then. Ask Lana."

Times have changed though.

"Its dressy. Formal wear is needed. But I think we can find you a dress before tonight. Can always get Cat Grant to help you. She's good with that kind of stuff when she's not flirting with half the Planet Staff."

She rolled her eyes. "Waterboy, equipment manager, whatever. Please. You were probably still adorkable, therefor I would have taken the initiative to ruin you for all other girls." She would have done a good job too. She was pretty sure she'd have scared him for life. (Possibly physically.)

Lacey let out a laugh. Cat Grant? "Oh no... Cat Grant would probably be glaring at me because I got a date with you and her breasts couldn't." Now that was a bit catty of her. She mentally shrugged. Oh well. "I might have something. If not, I know where to get something." Yeah, from a replicator at work. Like she was going to spend an arm and a leg for something in Metropolis when she could get a freebie. Hell no!

"I also have that level of Epic that just can't be matched here." That wasn't true, but she had to at least pretend. "And psh. There so is not much of a difference. Not to a chick who really doesn't pay attention to that sort of thing in the first place."

She wouldn't go as far as to say anything she wore would be perfect, but at least it wouldn't suck. But the word ice cream perked her up. "Ice cream?" She gave him a sly look. "Why, Clark.. are you trying to butter me up? Are you trying to get extra credit?"

She lightly kicked him. "Luckily for you I'm the kind of person that can see beyond the glasses." Seriously, she was wondering what the heck he was doing to her. She was finding it too easy to slip into this patter with him once the gates had been open.

"Mr. Kent wants extra credit..." Lacey leaned toward him with a smirk. "Looking to ace this course, eh? Say, are you even properly enrolled in my class, mister? I'm not sure I recall you ever properly signing up or paying the tuition fees..."

"Yeah...think we're both kind of lucky Lace," Clark said with a small smile.

"Oh, I'm paying alright." He winks at her. Clark was never really the type to crack jokes or play around like this. As Clark, he was bumbling and quiet. As Superman he was pretty serious. Felt nice to have a change of pace.

"But I really don't need the extra credit. Think I'm gonna ace this class without it," he said leaning closer.

"Yes we're lucky.." Lacey began, "as opposed to getting lucky."

She was pretty sure she looked like an infatuated school girl at the moment especially since she couldn't stop looking at the mild mannered reporter.

"I can tell you right now that you're at least getting a B in this class." She offered him a sweet smile that was rarely seen on her. "But then I haven't given you your midterm yet and that'll be half your grade..."

"Of course." He adjusted his glasses. "Still a bit of a boy scout in that right."

Getting lucky with Lacey actually has been the furthest thing from his mind. He was still trying to get to know the real Lacey. The other stuff would come with time.

"A B huh? Saving the teacher from certain death and possible torture and the best I get is a B? Guess I'll have to bring my A-game to my mid-term exam."

"Hey now, that situation was the equivalent of a pop quiz." And maybe a mild nightmare.

"Would it help if I said I graded on a curve?" Lacey was now toying with his tie now, adjusting it and readjusting it. It were as if she needed to keep her hands busy. But what it really was, was the need to fidget. For some reason she just couldn't sit still very long today. Maybe there were chemicals in the air. Or maybe Clark just made her want to do stuff that was safer not to think about now. "What time do you get off work anyway?"

"That depends," He said looking down at her fixing his tie and back up to her beautiful eyes. "Should be six. But should a massive story break out, could be later."

Of course that was the day job. The sad truth was as Superman, he never got off work. But for Lacey, he'd be willing to try to take a night off. Superheroes need a day off every once in a while. See why they fight.

And Lacey? Was quickly becoming a reason.

"Of course I could always take off sooner if I get all my work done."

"Right..." Lacey reluctantly stopped playing with his tie and picked up a pen and a post it from his desk and scribbled something down. She then stuck it to his tie and pat it firmly onto his chest. "Then I think I should leave you alone for now. Just call and pick me up later, okay?" She tapped the post it with her info on it as she hopped off of his desk. "If I stick around any further I'm pretty sure I'll either do permanent damage to your rep or something worse."

What in the world could be worse? Lacey had a few ideas... though they weren't so much worse as they were mind blowing.

He thought about it for a second. He knew Lacey's mindset.

"Uh, forget it. I don't wanna know. At least not until dinner tonight."

He gives her a smile. "I'll see you later Lacey."

From the otherside of the room a booming voice called. "KENT! Apartment fire on fifth and amsterdam. Hop to it, flirt on your own time."

Lacey chuckled even as she tried to think of a way to make Perry White double take as she had Jimmy and Lois. Sadly, nothing came to mind. She decided that he may very well be the only person outside of her own family that she'd not be able to mess with. And to figure that out without meeting the man.. that was impressive.

"Yeah, sure. Walk me to the elevator." She said, snapping out of her thoughts. "Just don't blame me if I drag you in and 'accidentally' hit the emergency stop then try to have my way with you in that tiny little room of vertical death." Not that she had anything against elevators. She loved them. But it sounded so much better when she drama queened about them.

She gave him a sly look. He was so cute when he blushed! She had an urge to hug him just for that, but she curbed it for the moment. She had more important things to do.

"As long as you don't go before I do." She innocently replied with. "I mean it'd be far more polite for the lady to go first if they can't go together." She had the most innocent expression on her face. It was serene, sweet, and void of anything naughty. Which could only mean one thing...

She was drowning in the gutter now and trying hard not to laugh her ass off.

The pair walked into the elevator. Her face to everyone else was innocent, but Clark knew her mind was in the gutter.

As they entered, he saw Lois trying to race to catch the elevator. Clark pushed the CLOSE DOORS button.

"Clark hold the elevator. Going to that fire story with you," she called. Clark kept pushing it as the doors closed just as she reached the doors. Before the closed Clark gave a confused look.

He took off his glasses and saw Lacey trying not to laugh.

"Couldn't have her see me fly out the elevator could I?"

Clark turns to Lacey. "I'll see you tonight."

He floats up and flies out the emergency panel ditching his suit flying to the fire.

Her gaze floated upward toward his makeshift exit and she sighed. Maybe this was too much. Maybe this was- she glanced down and an evil gleam appeared in her eyes. This was too good to be true.

A few minutes later Lacey was exiting the elevator in the lobby, bag over her shoulder and Clark's abandoned suit in her arms. She ignored the looks people gave her and held her head up high as she left the Daily Planet. Once outside she let out a wicked cackle.

Sometimes it was all too easy.
